Chiefs 27 - Texans 20 Tom's takeaways

Your Kansas City Chiefs are 1-0. It was squeaky bum time in the end, but in general it was quite a comfortable afternoon for Andy Reid's gang. Here are my takeaways.

1. Marcus Peters can ball.

In his very first play of his professional career Peters intercepted Brian Hoyer to set up the Chiefs first score. He brilliantly jumped in front of his receiver to make the diving catch. Add the couple of pass break ups he had too to equal a very good debut for the rookie.

2. Kelce is the man

Is there a better celebrator of touchdowns in the league? I don't think so. Kelce was in beast mode tonight, going for over 100 yards and two TDs. Fantasy owners around the globe especially happy.

3. This D will win us games.

On 4th and 1 the Chiefs D manage to stuff the Texans offense at a critical point in the game. The two turnovers created by this unit led to 14 points for the Chiefs. Game changing plays from a big play unit.

4. The league loves JJ Watt way way way too much.

Yes JJ Watt is an American hero and all of that rubbish, but the league needs to stop it with the constant compliments. It's borderline embarrassing. If you want to ask him out for dinner then just ask him. Oh by the way, last years sack leader had the most important play of the game. What game changing plays did JJ make?

5. Have yourself a day Alex.

Alex Smith was outrageous today. Under constant pressure, Alex was getting the ball out quickly and accurately to all of his receivers. He went for 22/33. 243 yards and 3 TDs. No wide receiver touchdown though, who cares.

It sure is great to have football back. Enjoy the win Chiefs Kingdom. These guys did.
