Blast from the Past – Games from the Chiefs’ history

Jon Cartwright

The Chiefs have plenty to look forward to this season! We have star names on both sides of the ball like Jamaal Charles and Justin Houston, who we hope can repeat their exploits of last season. We have some strong signings such as Ben Grubbs and Jeremy Maclin who will be immediate starters and can make the team better. We have rookies like Chris Conley and Marcus Peters who can make an impact right from the start of their careers. And we have players such as Mike DeVito, Derrick Johnson and Eric Berry – all established members of the team who missed time through injury last season and who are now fit and back in the roster.

But did you know how much the Chiefs also have to look back on? Through over 50 years as an AFL and then an NFL team, we have had a host of great players and been involved in some amazing games. All through this year, Arrowheads Abroad will be looking back at some of this history.

Each week of the season we will pick a historic game against that week’s opponent, and look at the game, the players, and more broadly at the context of what else was happening in the team and elsewhere at the time.

Every game will come from a different season – once you’ve read the whole series you’ll be an official Chiefs expert!
