Eric Berry Is Cancer Free

Much like all Chiefs fans across the world I woke up to some amazing news this morning. Eric Berry is cancer free and ready to practice. Now I am not a morning person by any means. I mean nothing brings a smile to my face at 6.50am, especially on hump day. But the news of our defensive leader winning the battle of his life certainly put a spring in my step whilst getting ready for work this morning.

Just 247 days after receiving the news that Eric's mass on his chest was in fact Hodgkin's Lymphoma, he had managed to beat the hell out of cancer. I read a great tweet earlier that said 'Eric played bump and run coverage with cancer and it never stood a chance.' I think it sums up the man perfectly. Since day one Eric has always been confident he would beat this horrible disease and get back to playing football. He bet on himself and he won.

Not only did he manage to rid himself of cancer, he also managed to carry on working out whilst receiving chemo. Now I have been fortunate never to have chemo myself, but I know people that have. From what I have seen and heard I would never believe, even in the wildest of dreams that being able to work out whilst receiving chemo was at all possible. But he just didn't manage to work out, oh no. This is #29 we are talking about. Mr Berry manged to gain, YES GAIN weight whilst receiving his treatment. Now what is your excuse for not heading down the gym again today?

Now I don't care what Eric manages to acheive (or not acheive) on the footbal field this season. Him being around is enough for the Chiefs Kingdom. The fact that the man has won the battle for his life will remain his biggest ever achieivement. Glad to have you back

Eric Berry, you sir are a legend.
