What does 2015 hold for Travis Kelce?

In 2014, Travis Kelce was the Chiefs leading receiver totalling 862 yards from 67 receptions, he ranked 6th in yards among tight ends and had only 26 yards less than Jimmy Graham but with 18 less receptions. He also ranked third in average yards per catch (for tight ends who had over 60 receptions) which is very impressive in itself. 2015 could be and should be a massive year for Kelce who will be trying to build on last year, Chiefs Kingdom should be expecting big things and here’s why:
The acquisition of Jeremey Maclin will especially benefit Kelce no end, J-Mac will be the long threat the Chiefs have waited for and this should free up some room in the middle of the field for Kelce to exploit. Even with his big body (standing at 6’5 and weighing 260lbs) Kelce is still an athletic freak. He can stretch the field vertically, has a wide catch radius and is incredibly tough to bring down after the catch (as we saw on many occasions last year). Put these facts with Jamaal Charles, an improved receiving core and Alex Smith and you suddenly have a monster on offense who will be able to put up impressive numbers.

When the Chiefs drafted him in 2013 Kelce was a raw talent, however, with a full season under his belt and after sitting out his entire rookie season with a knee injury he can now really push on and develop into an elite tight end. He has drawn comparisons to Rob Gronkowski in the past and Kelce has the potential to fit into that number two tight end spot behind Gronk and pass players such as Jimmy Graham and Greg Olsen in the process.
Kelce is now no doubt the main tight end in Kansas City, with Anthony Fasano moving to Nashville to play for the Titans. This shows the Chiefs Front Office’s belief in Kelce as they did not directly replace Fasano. He has already began to fill Fasano’s shoes by showing his leadership qualities helping young, 5th round pick tight end James O’Shaughnessy. Kelce will now most likely take most of Fasano’s snaps, more game time should mean more improvements and more chance to make catches and score touchdowns for the Chiefs.
Chiefs fan’s should be expecting big things from Travis Kelce this season, everything is in place now and he is in line for a 1000+ yard year, any less would be disappointing. It’s an exciting time for Kelce and Chiefs fans.
