Avery and Jenkins are the first to go

Good Morning! I hope everyone is having a great day! It appears it will be a very busy offseason for the Chiefs. Last Tuesday the team began to make cuts to clear Salary Cap space. Prior to Tuesday it was estimated the team had around 1.2 million under the salary cap. The team began the process quickly but waiving Wider Receivers AJ Jenkins and Donnie Avery. These moves saved the Chiefs nearly 5 mil-lion against the salary cap. These moves weren’t a shock; however, it is believed the team will look to bolster the position in the draft or free agency. We will see.

Justin Houston

The Chiefs continustoue to look at a long-term deal for Outside Linebacker, Justin Hou-ston. Houston, 26 was the NFL’s sack leader for the 2014 season with a total of 22. He nearly tied the record set by former NY Giants Linebacker Michael Strahan. Last season Houston was paid a modest sum 1.4 million. If the Chiefs elect to apply the franchise tag to Houston it would cost the team nearly 13 million. He would then need only sign the tender to guarantee 13 million in salary to Justin Houston. Pro Football Talk reported this news first. A signed deal would then allow the team to form the contract to minimize the hit against the salary cap for 2015.

Combine begins

Thursday marked the start of The NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapo-lis. The combine helps NFL prospects a chance to strut their stuff to all 32 teams. A drill are run to give coaches, general managers and scouts an idea of how these young men might perform at the next level. It is the ultimate form of a player’s re-sume and an audition for a job in the NFL. Values rise and fall. You never know what will happen. If you are interested in seeing the action or highlights you can go NFL Scouting Combine.
