Offensive Player Of The Year
By Tom Childs
Top 3
1. Jamaal Charles 55%
2. Travis Kelce 30%
3. Alex Smith 11%
For the second year in a row Jamaal has been named the Chiefs offensive player of the season. Even though his touches were way down on 2013, 83 less in the same amount of games in case you was wondering. Some would say that Jamaal was underused in 2014. In 5 of this year’s contest Jamaal would see 10 or fewer rushing attempts. Our record in those 5 games? 0-5. Our record when Jamaal rushed 12 or more times? 8-2. If you was ever in doubt when wondering who the MVP of the Chiefs offense is then look no further than that stat.

Jamaal became the Chiefs all-time leading rusher in 2014, breaking Priest Holmes record of 6070 yards. Jamaal would break it in typical Jamaal style, get to the edge, cut inside and finish. Poor Brandon Flowers is probably still having nightmares now.
His longest run of the year was a 63 yard score early in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Jamaal’s best ground performance came in a 24-20 win over the defending Champions the Seattle Seahawks. Although he would lose a fumble Jamaal still posted mammoth numbers. 2 touchdowns, 20 carries, 159 yards at an average of 8 (EIGHT) yards per carry.
His 2014 Stats
206 Rushing Attempts – 1033 Yards – 5 YPC – 9 Touchdowns
40 Receptions – 291 yards – 7.3 YPC – 5 Touchdowns
It is obvious Jamaal remains the most important piece in Andy Reid’s offensive system, without him the Chiefs simply don’t win (most of the time). What will we see from Jamaal in 2015? If I was a betting man I would say similar numbers but a lot less responsibility on him to grind out results. Surely the supporting cast will want to get involved and take this award, right?

So what was your highlight of Jamaal in 2014? Will he be a hall of famer, if not what does he need to do to get into Canton? Leave your comments below.
